Los Angeles  (October 24, 2012) –Independent global sales company, Radiant Films International has come aboard to handle the foreign rights to the heartwarming comedy drama AS COOL AS I AM  from producers Matt Williams (WHAT WOMEN WANT)and Judd Payne (BERNIE) of Wind Dancer Films, and Anthony Mastromauro of Identity Pictures.  The film is executive produced by Wind Dancer’s David McFadzean and Dete Meserve along with Ginger Sledge. 

Currently in post-production, the film boasts an all-star cast that includes Claire Danes (THE HOURS), James Marsden (X-MEN), Sarah Bolger (THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES), Thomas Mann (PROJECT X), Jeremy Sisto (ROBOT & FRANK) with real life TV chef Mario Batali and two time Academy Award nominee Peter Fonda (ULEE’S GOLD).  Max Mayer (ADAM) directed the film written by Virginia Korus Spragg (AN UNFINISHED LIFE) based on the novel by Pete Fromm. 

The film centers around a bright and intelligent teenage girl, Lucy (Bolger) and her almost boyfriend Kenny (Mann), who come of age in a small rural town.  With her often absent and very young parents (Marsden and Danes) more in need of guidance and parenting than their daughter, Lucy turns to cooking shows to cope with the turbulent pains of adolescence and finds particular comfort in the celebrated culinary personality, Mario Batali.  While Lucy charges ahead toward womanhood and her dream of becoming a chef, her mother is desperately searching for her own bigger life in this family comedy filled with laughter, tears, sex, love and pasta.

Claire Danes is the award winning TV and film actress who won three Golden Globes for her roles in TV’s Homeland, the HBO TV Film Temple Grandin, and My So Called Life.  Her major film credits include: Romeo + Juliet, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Evening, Stardust and The Hours. 

James Marsden is the actor, singer and former Versace model best known for playing the superhero Cyclops in the first three X-MEN films.  His other feature film credits include the box office hits HOP, SUPERMAN RETURNS, HAIRSPRAY, ENCHANTED and 27 DRESSES. 

Rising star Sarah Bolger, is the Irish actress known for playing Lady Mary Tudor on The Tudors, Mallory Grace in THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES and Christy in Jim Sheridan’s IN AMERICA. 

Director Max Mayer’s feature film, ADAM starring Hugh Dancy, Rose Byrne won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and was released by Fox Searchlight.  A celebrated television director, Mayer’s TV credits include the acclaimed series NBC's The West Wing, ABC's Alias and CBS's Family Law.   He made his feature debut directing BETTER LIVING, starring Roy Scheider, Olympia Dukakis and Edward Hermann.  Mayer is also the Founder and Producing Director of New York Stage and Film, which has presented 25 summer seasons of original plays at the Powerhouse Theatre at Vassar College.  


Wind Dancer Films, founded by Matt Williams and David McFadzean and later joined by Head of Production Judd Payne and President Dete Meserve, produced the blockbuster hit WHAT WOMEN WANT starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt and this year’s Gotham Award nominee BERNIE starring Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey. Other film credits include WHERE THE HEART IS starring Natalie Portman.  For television, the company’s credits include the hit shows Roseanne and Home Improvement. 

Anthony Mastromauro launched Identity Films in 2004 with credits that include Artie Lange's BEER LEAGUE, distributed by Echo Bridge Entertainment and MOONLIGHT SERENADE starring Amy Adams, Alec Newman, Scott Cohen and distributed by Magnolia Pictures. 

A veteran of the international sales landscape, Steinbauer has previously handled international sales on titles such as Academy Award winning THE HURT LOCKER, GHOSTRIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE 3D, BLUE VALENTINE and the box office phenomenon THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.  At AFM 2012, Radiant’s sales slate will include the newly announced THE CITIZEN and TRUST ME. 

THE CITIZEN tells the story of an Arab immigrant named Ibrahim (played by celebrated Egyptian actor Khaled Nabawy from FAIR GAME) who wins the American green card lottery, arriving in New York City on September 10th, 2001.  In addition to Nabawy, the film's cast includes Agnes Bruckner (BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE), William Atherton (GHOSTBUSTERS) and Cary Elwes (THE PRINCESS BRIDE). Currently shooting, TRUST ME is a dark comedy written, directed and starring Clark Gregg about the world of child stars.  The film stars Gregg, as a former child star who has become a loser agent of young actors, when he stumbles across a child prodigy, played by newcomer Saxon Sharbino. The ensemble cast also includes Amanda Peet, Paul Sparks, Felicity Huffman, Allison Janney, William H. Macy, Molly Shannon, Niecy Nash and Sam Rockwell.  

Radiant’s AFM slate is rounded out by Andrew Levitas’ drama, LULLABY, MADAME BOVARY starring Mia Wasikowska, Paul Giamatti and Ezra Miller, and THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF with William Hurt, Maria Bello and Kristen Stewart.
